The online ticket booking platform BookMyShow (BMS) has rolled out the BookMyShow stream under the Transaction Video-on-Demand (TVOD) model. Now BMS users will also be able to watch online movies in a pay-per-view format. With over 600 movie titles and over 72,000 hours of content, BookMyShow Stream will have a curated library of films and content from around the world.
Out of this, more than 22,000 thousand hours of content will be exclusive, which will be launched on the platform itself. The BookMyShow stream will have multiple marquee premieres every Friday. Apart from this, users can also rent movies and subscribe on BMS streams. Its charge will also vary according to the category selection, which will be 40-700 rupees.
BMS CEO (Cinema) Ashish Saxena said that BMS would focus on bringing films under the category like premiere, exclusive, world cinema, missed in theaters, festival favorites and dedicated bundles. These categories are divided according to the nature, choice and mood of the users.
Interestingly, BMS started global online streaming for users to watch live entertainment shows from their homes after the Coronavirus epidemic hindered them from watching movies in theaters. Through BookMyShow Online, the company was allowed to watch music, comedy and other art programs.
In the BookMyShow stream, cinema lovers can watch films such as Christopher Nolan’s film Tenet, Gal Gadot starrer Wonder Woman 1984 and horror fantasy The Craft: Legacy, especially those who missed these films in the theater. Sakasena said the platform will showcase Hollywood’s finest content through partnerships with global producers including Sony Pictures, Warner Bros. and Universal Pictures.
He said that in addition to global content, leading Indian production houses such as Viacom 18, Shemaroo and Rajshree Productions will also bring films for regional content such as Divo, Sillimonx and others.
Sakasena said that the BMS stream is an innovation. This platform will not replace the theater experience, but is a natural extension of the cinema business. We will present the movie here only after the movie is released in the theater. Before it is available on platforms that are subscribed to subscription VOD and satellite channels.
