Malegaon : Nationalist Congress Party city president Asif Sheikh led a protest march against the irresponsible deeds of a private electricity distribution company supplying electricity to the city. Such a demand was made to stop the power company arbitrarily, remove errors in operation and solve the problems related to power distribution. The march started from NCP Bhawan on Old Agra Road. Two years ago, the contract for distribution of electricity in the city was given to a private company. There are many complaints from citizens regarding the management of this company.
At 4 pm, a protest was held from the old Agra Road to the office of the power company in the Satana Naka area. Slogans were raised against the electricity company. Shaikh, while speaking in the premises of the power company, strongly criticized it. The company was not contracted to recover the money alone. The company was entrusted with the task of improving the power distribution system of the city and providing proper facilities to the citizens. Without naming MLA Mufti Ismail, Sheikh criticized him. He accused the MLA’s supporters of acting as agents of the company.

The power company should immediately stop overnight raids, stop charging excessive electricity bills from electricity consumers and also stop frequent power cuts. He demanded immediate measures to ensure uninterrupted power supply to power loom mills, new electricity connections, immediate redressal of electricity-related complaints, non-payment of unnecessary charges in electricity bills and compliance of the provisions of the agreement. A memorandum of demands was given to the officials of the concerned power company. A warning was given to intensify the agitation if proper action was not taken on this. NCP’s Aslam Ansari, all councilors, officials and workers were involved in this strike. During this, strict police arrangements were made.
