National Voter’s Day: Citizens of India will now be able to download the voter identity card through a mobile phone or computer sitting at home. Law and IT Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad is going to launch an electronic version of Voter ID on Monday. E-Elector Photo ID Card is a non-editable digital version of Elector Photo ID Card. Election Commission officials say that the e-voter ID card can be saved in the digital locker and printed in PDF format.
An Election Commission statement said that Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad will launch the e-EPIC program on January 25 and distribute e-EPICs and Elector Photo ID Cards to 5 new voters.
It takes time to reach physical voter card
Physical voter ID card takes time to print and reach the voter. For fast delivery of voter ID and easy access of voters, a downloadable voter ID card is being brought. Aadhar card, PAN card, driving license are already available in digital mode for citizens.
Election Commission Anniversary on 25 January
Elector Photo ID Card was started in 1993. They are accepted as proof of identity and address. The e-version of the voter ID card is being launched on the occasion of the Election Commission’s anniversary. It was established on 25 January 1950. For the last few years, 25 January is also celebrated as National Voter’s Day.
