NashikNashik Municipal Corporation administration has become aggressive as soon as the Administrator Rule started in Nashik Municipal Corporation. Regarding the recovery of property tax and water tax dues, the concerned department has issued notices to 579 landlords to confiscate the property. At the same time 127 tap connections have been cut.
It is noteworthy that the main source of income of Nashik Municipal Corporation is property and water tax, which citizens are not ready to pay. The concerned department of the Municipal Corporation has also given exemption from time to time to the citizens to pay this amount, yet the citizens are not paying attention to it. Therefore, Nashik Municipal Commissioner Kailash Jadhav has given instructions to take action against the property and water tax defaulters. Now the concerned department is making every effort for 100% tax recovery. Action is being taken by preparing a list of big defaulters and issuing notices of confiscation of property to them.
The financial condition of the Municipal Corporation deteriorated due to non-payment of tax
The financial condition of the Municipal Corporation has worsened due to non-payment of outstanding taxes by the citizens. The special thing is that in view of the upcoming municipal elections, the ruling and opposition did not do any work for tax collection. After the end of the tenure of the current Mayor and Deputy Mayor, the administrative rule has started in the Nashik Municipal Corporation from March 14. As soon as the Municipal Commissioner Kailash Jadhav became the administrator, first of all efforts have been started to improve the economic condition of the Municipal Corporation.

150 crore property tax recovery target
122.83 crores as water tax and 365.40 crores as property tax, totaling Rs 488.23 crores as outstanding. The Municipal Corporation had set a target of Rs 150 crore to collect property tax in the financial year 2021-22. So far, Rs 107 crore has been recovered, out of which the outstanding amount of last year has reached 400 crore. There are 4 lakh 55 thousand tax holders in the municipal limits area, in which 500 square feet is middle class. Property and water tax has become a major source of income after the municipal octroi was abolished.
Auditors also raised questions
There are 850 big defaulters of Nashik Municipal Corporation who are not paying taxes. He has a total outstanding of Rs 40 crore. To recover this amount, the Municipal Corporation has started all possible efforts. In today’s situation the economic condition of the Municipal Corporation is very bad. Yet there is a delay in recovery of property and water tax, which has been questioned by the auditors. Due to this, the municipal administration has started action before the upcoming municipal elections. The Municipal Corporation had implemented the Abhay scheme for collection of property and water tax, which did not get any response from the citizens.
