Meanwhile, the Calcutta High Court on Thursday issued directions to the Election Commission regarding the civic polls in West Bengal. The court has directed the Election Commission to consider postponing the election by 4 to 6 weeks.
According to ANI, the Calcutta High Court directed the West Bengal Election Commission to consider postponing the civic polls for 4-6 weeks in view of the rising cases of corona virus. The Election Commission will clarify its stand in 48 hours.

Like many parts of the country, a dangerous attack of corona is being seen in West Bengal too. Courts were moved to postpone the Siliguri, Chandranagar, Bidhannagar and Asansol municipal elections in view of the increasing number of COVID cases. According to a report, the decision on the PIL filed in the court has been reserved for the time being. However, the court has directed the Election Commission to consider postponing the election for 4 to 6 weeks.
