Addressing the nation from the ramparts of the Red Fort yesterday, on the occasion of the 74th Independence Day of the country, PM Modi said that the government is taking care of the health and hygiene of poor daughters and sisters and provide them with health-related products at affordable prices. Have been. He said that in a big step in this direction, the government has provided more than 5 crore sanitary pads to poor women at a minimum cost of Re 1 through more than 6 thousand Jan Aushadhi Kendras across the country.

On this announcement of the Prime Minister, Union Minister of Chemicals and Fertilizers, DV Sadananda Gowda said that this achievement has been possible only due to the continuous guidance and support of the Prime Minister. He said that a network of 6 thousand Janaushadhi centers has been created to provide better services to the people and especially to the underprivileged. Distributing more than 5 crore sanitary pads at a minimum cost of one rupee is a living example.

Gowda said that the government will also continue to supply essential and quality medicines to the people at affordable prices through the Pradhan Mantri Jan Aushadhi Centers to fulfill the vision of the Prime Minister.

Union Minister of State for Shipping (Independent Charge) and Minister of State for Chemicals and Fertilizers Mansukh Mandaviya said that rapid progress in various fields, especially women empowerment and the steps taken for the welfare of poor sections, are possible only because of the firm commitment of the Prime Minister Have found He said that the pharmaceutical department of his ministry is working tirelessly to ensure availability of sanitary pads and other medicines at affordable prices through the Pradhan Mantri Jan Aushadhi Centers.

“Public Health Sanitary Napkin” These products, known as ‘social’, is being made available to poor women at a minimum price of one rupee through more than 6000 Pradhan Mantri Jan Aushadhi centers across the country, while the prices of such sanitary pads are available in the market. It is around 3 to 8 rupees per pad.

This step has ensured ‘cleanliness, health and convenience’ for the disadvantaged women of the country. This step has been taken by the Central Pharmaceuticals Department to fulfill the Prime Minister’s vision of affordable and quality healthcare. These sanitary napkins are completely environmentally friendly as they are made from biologically perishable material as per ASTM D-6954 standards.

In many parts of the country, especially rural areas, girls and women do not have access to sanitary products or the price of such products available in the market is so high that they are unable to opt for it. In such a situation, they have got a big relief by getting these at cheaper prices at Jan Aushadhi centers.

Jan Aushadhi Kendras have distributed 1.56 crore such pads in Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh region. Run by National Health Mission “National Adolescent Health Program” Under this pad, these girls and women are being provided free of charge.
