Modi government gives relief to OCI, PIO card holders and foreign nationals to visit India

The Union Home Ministry has given a big relief to all Overseas Citizenship of India (OCI) and Person of Indian Origin (PIO) and all other foreign nationals who want to come to India for some purpose. But it excludes those foreign, OCI and PIO card holders, who are applying to come on a tourist visa, electronic visa and medical visa. This step has been taken to help those who are trying to come to India amid the corona virus epidemic.

Home Ministry issued an order

The Home Ministry said in a press release that the government has now decided to give relaxation in visa and travel restrictions for more categories of foreign nationals and Indian citizens who want to come or leave India. Under this sorted concession, the government has approved all OCI, PIO and all other foreign nationals who want to come for some purpose. The statement said that except for tourist visa, electronic visa and medical visa, people have got approval to come to India by air or sea route through Authorized Airport and Seaport Immigration Check Post.

Quarantine guidelines have to be followed

The Home Ministry said it included flights operated under the Vande Bharat Mission, air transport bubble or any non-scheduled flights after approval by the Ministry of Civil Aviation. However, all such travelers will have to strictly follow the Quarantine and other guidelines related to COVID-19 issued by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. The Union Home Ministry said that under this sort of concession, the Government of India has decided to reinstate all existing visas with immediate effect. Tourist visas, electronic visas and medical visas are excluded from this.

The ministry said that if the validity of these visas is over, then visas of an appropriate category can be taken from the Indian Mission or Post.
