Mumbai: Mumbaikars are going to get the gift of another metro from Gudi Padwa. The first phase of the much-awaited Metro 2A and 7 will be flagged off by Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray on April 2. MMRDA commissioner SVR Srinivas said that initially the CMRS has given clearance to run this metro at a speed of 70 km. By the way, the new metro will later be run at a speed of 80 km. The commissioner said that in the first phase, the metro will run between a total of 18 stations.
Commissioner SVR Srinivas said that from the second day of the inauguration, metro trains will be available at the frequency of every 11 minutes. Presently 11 metro rakes are available. Up to 20 rakes will be available in the coming one year. With the increase in the number of trains, there will be an increase in service and frequency. The commissioner said that the metro equipped with state-of-the-art technology will have a Communication Based Train (CBTC) system. The train is of driverless technology, yet there will be drivers. MMRDA has appointed 60 drivers including 10 women for the operations.

Disabled and women’s arrangement
According to the commissioner, separate arrangements have been made for differently-abled passengers and women in the metro. With security arrangements at the station, separate coaches for women and separate seats for differently-abled will be available in each coach in the train. Metro will run from 6 am to 10 pm. Platform screen doors have been installed for the safety of the passengers. Due to this no one can fall from the platform to the track. Traveling can also be done by bicycle.
Metro will run between these stations
The first phase for Metro-2A is between Dahisar East and Dahanukarwadi and between Metro-7 Corridor and Aarey to Dahisar East. Metro Dahisar E, Anand Nagar, Kandarpara, Mandapeshwar, Exar, Borivali (West), Pahari Exar, Kandivali (West) and Dahanukarwadi and between Aarey, Dindoshi, Kurar, Akurli, Poisar, Magathane, Devipara, Sanjay Gandhi National Park, Ovaripada Will run
3.50 lakh people will travel
According to the MMRDA commissioner, initially there are plans to run 150 services daily. There is a running capacity of 2,280 passengers per train. In this way, 3 to 3.50 lakh people are expected to travel daily. Regarding the fare, the commissioner said that the minimum fare for the first 3 km would be Rs 10 and for 20 km the maximum would be Rs 50. The commissioner said that there is a proposal to discount the fare for the students in the metro, passes will be issued after it is approved. The second complete corridor from Dahisar to Andheri is expected to be commissioned by September-October 2022.
