Nagpur. The NDPS team of the Crime Branch on Monday arrested 3 accused, including a woman, in smuggling Mephedran Drugs (MD). The police had received information that some people are coming to Nagpur from Mumbai with goods. All three were trying to escape in a car but were caught by the police squad.
The arrested accused include Sangeeta Rajendra Maheshwari (41), resident of Ayodhyanagar, Shivshankar Chandrabhan Kandrikar (34), resident of Khadkadi Mohalla, Golibar Chowk and Akash Chandrakant Dhekle (37), resident of MIG Colony, Vakilpeth. It is said that all three were active in the business of MD for the last few months. But for the first time in the hands of the police. On Sunday morning, the police got information that 1 woman and a man are coming to Nagpur by train after buying MD from Mumbai.
Based on the news, the police started investigation. It was learned through Khabri that a person is about to reach the eastern gate of the railway station to pick them up. Police laid a trap near Shivshakti Bhojanalaya of Orange Market. Sangeeta and Shivshankar exit from railway station and Akash’s car no. MH49-BK 3798 boarded. Immediately the police stopped his car. On search, 57 grams of MD were recovered, the value of which is being said to be Rs 5.70 lakh.
Property dealer invested money
Police confiscated goods worth Rs 16.18 lakh including vehicle and mobile. Sangeeta runs an ice cream parlor in the Ayodhyanagar complex, while Akash is a property dealer. Its layouts are also in Parsivani. He had given money to Sangeeta and Shivshankar to do the business of MD. Sangeeta says that her husband is missing for a long time. She was doing business with the help of Akash. Shivshankar was supporting him in this work. Shivshankar is an expert in smuggling goods.
The police registered a case against the three at the Ganeshpeth police station and presented them in the court. The court has ordered to keep the three in police custody till February 10. Under the guidance of DIG Sunil Phulari and DCP Akshay Shinde, Inspector Manoj Sidam, API Badrinarayan Tambe, Suraj Suroshe, Head Constable Pramod Dhote, Pradeep Pawar, Rajesh Deshmukh, Namdev Tekam, Samadhan Geete, Sunil Ingle, Namdev Tekam, Rubina Shaikh, Nitin Mishra, Ashwin Mange, Vinod Gaikwad, Vivek Adhau, Sameer Sheikh, Rahul Patil and Sahdev Chikhale took action.
