Washim. The Nagpur Bench of the Mumbai High Court has acquitted 20 accused in the Avinash Chavan murder case of Manora in the district. This is the first incident in Washim district of being innocent in such a big proof in the life imprisonment case.
On March 18, 2014, after a dispute on the day of Holi, Avinash and his father Devdas and brothers Mukesh and Ganesh were beaten up with iron pipes and wood. Avinash was killed in this and the other three people were seriously injured. On the complaint, Komal Aade, Janardhan Rathod, Duryodhan Rathod, Dilip Rathod, Sudam Chavan, Ramdhan Rathod, Ravindra Rathod, Ashok Pawar, Vinod Rathod, Manohar Rathod A case was registered against Govardhan Rathod, Kisan Aade, Kuldeep Pawar, Arun Pawar, Dnyaneshwar Rathod, Vishwanath Jadhav, Bandu Jadhav, Madhukar Chavan, Pradeep Jadhav and Milind Chavan etc.
After investigation, the case was filed in the Washim Sessions Court to get justice. On August 10, 2018, the Sessions Court here had sentenced these accused to life imprisonment along with imprisonment of various terms and fine, in protest against this decision, all of them filed an appeal in the High Court.
In this context, the matter came before the Nagpur Bench of Mumbai High Court, Justice Sunil Shukre and Justice Pushpa Ganeriwala, all of Manora’s murder case has been acquitted as the government side has not proved the crime against the accused.
