Gondia, The Malaria and Elephant Disease Department of the district is functioning independently. These two departments complement each other. The service of this department is important in rural areas. Still about 40 questions important to the department. The posts are lying vacant. The post of District Malaria Officer also comes under the category of Gazetted Officer which is lying vacant.
Some posts were recruited by the government in the year 2016, but due to the campaign being shelved, the post recruitment came to a complete halt. Diseases like Malaria, Filariasis and Dengue have started increasing due to the adoption of vacant posts by the Department. Many times citizens are scared of malaria and masticatory fever.
The death toll of patients due to this disease is also high. At present, the health service of Malaria and Elephant Disease Department has come to a standstill due to the acceptance of vacant posts by the department. For the last few years, due to non-recruitment of posts in these departments, the amount of vacant posts is increasing. There is a demand to fill the vacant posts immediately.

Prevention of mosquitoes is considered important in the eradication of malaria and elephant disease. Mosquitoes and insects are destroyed through spraying in rural areas, in which the role of the employees of the department is important. Many personnel of the department have also retired and were not re-inducted into regular service. The health department has always neglected the contribution of the employees who get only a few days of work in the whole year, even though their contribution is important.
