Tope told reporters in Jalna that the restrictions imposed by the state government a day ago were in the interest of the people. “Restrictions will also be imposed in crowded places like liquor shops and places of worship,” he told reporters.
Tope said that although the cases are increasing, the number of patients admitted to the hospital and the demand for oxygen are less. “When there is an increase in this, we will implement strict restrictions,” he said.
On Saturday, as more than 41,000 new cases of COVID-19 were reported in the state, the state government decided to ban public movement in groups of five or more from 5 am to 11 pm. Apart from this, except for essential services, no one will be allowed to move from 11 pm to 5 am. A government circular has been issued in this regard. On Sunday, the state government revised the COVID-19-related restrictions for gyms and beauty cells, allowing them to operate at 50 per cent capacity from January 10 midnight.

The state government had on Saturday announced that schools and colleges would remain closed till February 15, except for essential activities for class 10 and 12 students and administrative activities of teachers. The government had also decided to limit attendance at marriages and social, religious, cultural or political functions to 50. The circular states that not more than 20 people can be present at the funeral.
