Mumbai: The Maharashtra government on Sunday revised the COVID-19 related restrictions for gyms and beauty salons and allowed them to operate at 50 per cent capacity from January 10 midnight.
On Saturday, when 41,000 cases of corona virus were reported in the state, the government had said that gyms and beauty salons would remain closed while barbershops would be able to operate at 50 per cent capacity. The order was amended on Sunday and beauty salons were also allowed to operate with 50 per cent capacity.

According to the amended order, only those activities are allowed in which the mask is not removed. It states that only people who have been fully vaccinated are allowed to use these services and all employees engaged in this work should also be fully immunized. The order said that gyms have also been allowed to operate with 50 per cent capacity and masks will have to be worn while exercising.
The Maharashtra government on Saturday further tightened restrictions amid a spike in COVID-19 cases, banning movement of groups of five or more persons from 5 am to 11 pm, with effect from January 10 midnight. .
Apart from this, movement of people will not be allowed from 11 pm to 5 am except in essential services, a government circular said. It said that schools and colleges will remain closed till February 15 except for essential activities for students of class 10th and 12th and administrative activities of teachers. No visitor shall be permitted to enter Government offices without the written permission of the Heads of Offices. The facility of online communication will be provided to the people through video conferencing.
The circular states that government employees should opt for work from home and vary the working hours if it is necessary to work from office. Private offices have also been asked to rationalize the number of employees visiting the office by allowing employees to work from home and by varying working hours. The circular said that the limit of people present in marriages and social, religious, cultural or political functions would be 50. Not more than 20 persons can attend the funeral.
