LPG Price Hike: Domestic LPG prices have increased by Rs 25 per cylinder on Wednesday. Its price has increased for the second consecutive month. According to the notification issued by the oil companies regarding the prices, the price of subsidized 14.2 kg cylinder in Delhi has now gone up to Rs 859.
Earlier on July 1, the prices were increased by Rs 25.50 per cylinder. The prices of non-subsidised LPG cylinders were also increased in the same proportion on August 1. And now the price of subsidized cylinder has been increased.
There is now very little difference between the prices of subsidized and non-subsidised cylinders. Industry sources say that the prices of subsidized cylinders were not increased on August 1 because Parliament was in session and the government could have to face the onslaught of the opposition. Since January 1, the price of subsidized cylinder has increased by a total of Rs 165 per cylinder.
Price more than doubled in 7 years
Domestic LPG prices have more than doubled in the last seven years. The retail price of domestic gas as on March 1, 2014 was Rs 410.5 per 14.2 kg cylinder. The price of 14.2 kg cylinder in Mumbai is now Rs 859.5. Whereas its price in Kolkata is Rs 886. The cost of an LPG cylinder in Chennai is now Rs 875.50, which was Rs 850.50 earlier.

Meanwhile, diesel prices across the country have been cut by 19 to 21 paise. According to the notification issued regarding the prices, there has been no change in the price of petrol. This is the first change in prices in a month. The price of petrol remains unchanged at Rs 101.84 per liter in Delhi. However, diesel prices have come down to Rs 89.67 per liter from Rs 89.87. Now its price in Mumbai is Rs 97.24 per liter.
