Thane: Drivers who did not fill e-Challan have finally benefited in Lok Adalat. In fact, the Thane Traffic Police had sent a notice to the drivers who had e-challan arrears asking them to appear in the Lok Adalat. Out of more than two lakh drivers sent notices, only 58 thousand drivers reached the Lok Adalat and they deposited a total of 2 crore 14 lakh 50 thousand 8 hundred outstanding e-challans. Still, more than one and a half lakh drivers are still due, who will be called for further action by sending notices again.
The Thane Traffic Police sends e-challan messages to the mobile numbers of the drivers who break the traffic rules. Even after receiving the e-challan message, the drivers do not fill their challan. The total number of e-challan outstanding under Thane Traffic Police is 2,14,227. The Thane Traffic Police had sent notices to all the drivers asking them to be present in the Lok Adalat to collect the outstanding e-challans. Out of the drivers who were sent notices, only 57955 drivers reached the Lok Adalat and they deposited their e-challan dues of Rs 2 crore 14 lakh 50 thousand 8 hundred. Thane Traffic Police Deputy Commissioner Balasaheb Patil said that those who have e-challan arrears have been summoned to the Lok Adalat and the penalty has been recovered from them. At the same time, the drivers who have not yet filled their e-challan, were instructed by the traffic police to fill the e-challan within 6 months.
