Amravati. A male leopard died in a head-on collision with an unidentified vehicle on the Chandur railway route passing through the city’s Wadali area. The incident happened on the morning of Sunday 2 January. Forest department officials reached the spot and performed the post-mortem of the dead leopard and cremated it.

According to the Forest Department, the forest located on the Chandur railway route is a real wildlife sanctuary. Where there are a large number of leopards in the area. Now the traffic on this route has increased significantly and the number of wildlife accidents has also increased. Often wildlife gets hit by a vehicle while crossing the road.
A male leopard was hit by an unidentified vehicle crossing the road after midnight on Saturday and he died on the spot. The information about the incident was received by the Forest Department on Sunday morning. After this the forest personnel reached the spot. Veterinary team also reached the spot and conducted the post-mortem. The forest department conducted an autopsy of the dead leopard and brought its carcass to the animal protection room of Wadali in a government vehicle. After getting information about this incident, the post-mortem of the dead leopard was done under the guidance of Chief Forest Conservator Jyoti Banerjee and Deputy Forest Conservator Chandrashekaran Bala.

Veterinarians conducted the post-mortem of the dead leopard. In which it was found that the leopard, which died in the accident, had broken its backbone and died on its place due to excessive bleeding. The post-mortem team has submitted such a report to the Forest Department. After which the dead leopard was cremated in the presence of forest officials.
