Mumbai: ST Employees have been adamant on strike for the last 48 days demanding merger. Despite all the efforts of the state government and giving a final ultimatum, ST employees are not ready to take back their agitation. Transport Minister Anil Parab had given an ultimatum to the striking employees till Monday, but it did not have any effect on the employees. Now the discussion has started as to how long this strike will last.
It is noteworthy that ST is already in huge financial crisis due to Corona and Lockdown for the last two years. Before the lockdown, the daily income of ST was 20 to 22 crores. STs have suffered a loss of more than 550 crores due to the strike so far.

Strong impact on rural economy
The ST, which is called Lalpari of Maharashtra, has a big responsibility for the traffic of the rural parts of the state. Before the Corona period, 68 to 70 lakh people used to travel daily across the state from ST. Most of them include common farmers, students, women, elderly people. After Corona, due to the closure of ST for the last 50 days, there has been a deep impact on the rural economy and traffic. About 18 thousand buses of ST are standing. Most educational institutions have opened. Because of this students are not able to go to school and college.
Now the process of dismissal begins
On the other hand, the dam of patience of common travelers is breaking. Surprisingly, it was 50 days, but due to the coordination between the ruling and the striking employees, no way could be found for the ST to run. On the one hand the deficit is increasing continuously, on the other hand the problems of the common people are increasing. When ST will not run then from where will the employees get their salary. The corporation has suspended more than 10 thousand employees. Now the process of dismissal has started.
The issue of merger is with the committee
Meanwhile, the Transport Minister says that the issue of merger is before the committee. A decision will be taken only after the report comes in 12 weeks. So will the strike continue till then? Sadabhau Khot and Padalkar, who initially accompanied the striking workers, have also shied away. Most of the workers still stick to the merger. There are 93 thousand employees of ST, most of the employees have not got salary for almost 2 months. In this matter both the authority and the employee have to show prudence.
