Lakhimpur Kheri: The Special Investigation Team (SIT) on Friday filed a charge sheet in connection with the second FIR in the Lakhimpur Kheri violence case. Officials gave this information.
Senior Prosecution Officer (SPO) SP Yadav said, “The SIT filed the charge sheet against the four accused in the court of Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate (ACJM) Mona Singh on Friday in connection with FIR No. 220/2021.”
Of the seven accused arrested under FIR No. 220, the police have filed charge sheets against four accused Vichitra Singh, Gurvinder Singh, Kamaljit Singh and Gurpreet Singh. Yadav said, “Final report in respect of three persons Ranjit Singh, Sonu alias Kanwaljit Singh and Avtar Singh has been submitted under section 169 of CrPC (release of accused for lack of evidence) and orders for their release have been issued.” are going.”

“The four accused against whom the charge sheet was filed include sections 109, 114, 426, 436 and 506 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) against Vichitra Singh. Whereas, sections 143, 147, 148, 149, 323, 325, 427,436, 504 and 302 are included against Gurvinder Singh, Kamaljit Singh and Gurpreet Singh.
Eight people, including four farmers, a journalist, two Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) workers and a driver, were killed in the violence on October 3, 2021 at Tikunia in Lakhimpur Kheri. Two FIRs were registered in the matter. The first FIR was lodged by a farmer in which Ashish Mishra, son of Minister of State for Home Ajay Kumar Mishra, and 15-20 others were accused of crushing four farmers and a journalist.
On January 3, the SIT set up to probe the violence had filed a charge sheet against Ashish Mishra, Sumit Jaiswal, Ankit Das and 11 others under various sections of the IPC, Arms Act in connection with FIR No. 219.
The second FIR was lodged by Sumit Jaiswal in connection with the murder of two BJP workers and a driver. While investigating in relation to FIR No-220, the SIT has identified and arrested seven persons. However, only four persons were named as accused while filing the charge sheet on Friday. (agency)
