Srinagar. A Jaish-e-Mohammed terrorist killed in an encounter with security forces in Kulgam district of Jammu and Kashmir has been identified as Babar Bhai of Pakistan who is active since 2018. Was. The security forces received information about the presence of terrorists in the area after which a cordon and search operation was launched.
“The slain Jaish-e-Mohammed terrorist has been identified as Babar Bhai of Pakistan who was active in the areas of Shopian-Kulgam since 2018.” An AK rifle, a pistol and two grenades have been recovered from the encounter site, police said. A policeman was also killed in the encounter and five people, including three jawans, were injured. One terrorist of terrorist organization Jaish-e-Mohammed was killed.”
An army spokesman said the operation was launched on the basis of intelligence inputs about the presence of terrorists in the area and the security forces had to exercise utmost restraint despite the terrorists opening fire and hurling grenades as it was a residential area. “The hideout of the suspect was cordoned off as the security forces were conducting door-to-door searches.
While searching a house at around 8.45 pm, a terrorist opened fire with an AK rifle and lobbed a grenade. Since civilians were also present in the area and the house, the security forces first exercised restraint to save the civilians. In the process, a constable of Jammu and Kashmir Police was martyred, three jawans and two civilians were injured.” The injured, including civilians, were airlifted to the Army’s 92 Base Hospital here, he said.
