Mumbai: In today’s fast-paced life, kidney disease is increasing rapidly all over the world and we remain unaware of it. According to an estimate, by 2040 it will become the 5th leading cause of death. World Kidney Day is celebrated every year which is on 10th March every year to spread awareness about ways to reduce the risk of kidney disease and keep kidney healthy.
Experts believe that every year the cases of kidney disease are increasing, which is a silent killer and it gradually develops in the body with the passage of time. Its symptoms appear after kidney failure and sometimes this condition can be life-threatening. Therefore, to prevent kidney damage, some things have to be taken care of and some tests have to be done regularly. This year the theme of World Kidney Day 2022 is ‘Kidney Health for All’, which means kidney health is important for all.

More than 75 lakh patients in India
At present, about 700 million people in the world suffer from permanent kidney disease (CKD). According to one estimate, there are more than 75 lakh patients of CKD in India. On an average, about 2 lakh new patients are diagnosed with end-stage kidney failure every year in our country. This is a huge number and imagine that if these people do not lead a healthy lifestyle, they may soon be at risk of depression, high blood pressure, weakened immunity, heart disease and swollen feet. to walk: It is a very safe form of exercise and is suitable for almost everyone. This can be done anywhere and anytime. Those who do not exercise at all, they should do short, easy, five-minute walks. Very slowly, very calmly and continue it for a week, if there is no ill effect. Then do it for 10 minutes. Watch your body and make sure there are no signs of tension or discomfort. If all goes well, gradually increase the duration of the walk.
Yoga and Flexibility Exercises: Asanas are helpful in keeping the body flexible and breathing exercises can be done daily. Meditation and yoga help in keeping the mind free from stress and worries. People on dialysis can easily do sit-ups, squats, calf raises, dips, pull-ups, etc.

Swimming: It is an excellent form of exercise for everyone. Since water has less pressure on the joints, it is a great way to exercise the body while avoiding the extra stress that can be caused to the joints while walking.
Kidney patients should continue to exercise under the care of doctors. It is important to pay attention to which exercises you can do safely and for how long. Start slowly and then increase the duration and frequency. Do not exercise excessively. If you do not feel comfortable, or if you are very tired or have shortness of breath, stop immediately.
