Mumbai/Thane: The Kharegaon Railway Crossing between Kalwa-Mumbra of Central Railway was finally closed. With the closure of this label crossing, local trains will be able to operate on this route without any interruption.
It is noteworthy that the much awaited railway flyover was inaugurated here by Urban Development Minister Eknath Shinde and Home Construction Minister Jitendra Ahwad. With the inauguration of Railway Udanpul, Central Railway has closed the label crossing. Central Railway CPRO Shivaji Sutar said that the closure of this busy railway gate will improve the punctuality of local trains on slow tracks.

Local MP Dr. Shrikant Shinde, who has been trying since the beginning for the construction of Kharegaon railway flyover, said that after the commissioning of this ROB, now the next target is to build railway flyover in Diva as soon as possible. It has already started. Due to rapid urbanization in Kalwa-Mumbra and Diva areas, there is a need to stop label crossings so that trains can run on time. MP Dr Shinde said that with the help of Central Railway and Thane Municipal Corporation, the railway flyover was constructed at a cost of Rs 38 crore. The work of bridge section on railway track has been done by Central Railway. Dr. Shinde said that the bridge was first demanded in 2000, approved in 2008, but the work started directly from 2014. Since then, this flyover has been constructed overcoming many hurdles.
