Natural paint made of cow dung has arrived in the country’s market. Union Minister of Road Transport and Minister of Micro, Small and Medium Industries Nitin Gadkari on Tuesday launched this new innovative paint, named Khadi Natural Paint. It is the first paint made of cow dung in India and has been developed by the Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC). The special features of the paint made by this cow dung include anti-bacterial and anti-fungal. The government said in the statement that it is economical and free of any odor. And it has been certified by Bureau of Indian Standards.
Lower price than paint available in the market
The government has explained the total of eight benefits of paint. This paint is an anti-bacterial, anti-fungal, eco-friendly and natural thermal insulator. Along with this, the speciality of the paint includes being economical, odourless, non-toxic and heavy metal. Khadi natural paint is available in two ways – distemper paint and emulsion paint. Talking about the price, the price of distemper paint is Rs 120 per liter and the price of emulsion paint is Rs 225 per liter. At the launch, Gadkari said that these prices are less than half the prices charged by the big paint companies.

The income of farmers and cowshed will increase
The government said in a statement that the concept of this project was prepared by the chairman of KVIC in March 2020. It was later developed by the Kumarappa National Homemade Paper Institute in Jaipur. Paint does not contain any heavy metals like lead, mercury, chromium, arsenic, cadmium etc. This will promote local manufacturing and create opportunities for local jobs. This technology will increase the consumption of cow dung as a raw material for eco-friendly products. This will also provide additional revenue to farmers and cowsheds.
At the launch, Minister Nitin Gadkari said that this step is towards increasing the income of the Prime Minister’s farmers. He said that this is part of improving the rural economy so that migration from cities to rural areas can be started.
