Mumbai: The local train, which is called the Lifeline of Mumbai, has completed 97 years of service. The first EMU (Electric Multiple Unit) service of Central Railway started for the first time on 3 February 1925. The first 4-coach EMU (Local) service was flagged off by the then Governor of Mumbai, Leslie Wilson. The first service ran from the then Bombay VT (now CSMT) to Kurla on the Harbor Line.
