ITR Filing Due Date Extended: There is news of relief for those who have not yet filed Income Tax Return (ITR). The government has once again extended the deadline for filing income tax returns (ITR) for the financial year 2020-21 or assessment year 2021-22. Now the new deadline for filing ITR is March 15, whereas earlier this date was December 31. This means that taxpayers can file their income tax return till March 15. Apart from extending the deadline for ITR filing, CBDT has also extended the date of submission of audit report till February 15, 2022.
The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) has given this information by tweeting. CBDT says that taxpayers were facing difficulties in filing returns amid the spurt in cases of corona infection, hence the deadline for filing ITR has been extended. This is the third time that the deadline for filing ITR for the financial year 2020-21 has been extended.
