Mumbai: A fine of Rs 68 crore has been recovered by conducting a regular ticket checking drive to check unauthorized travel on Western Railway. According to CPRO Sumit Thakur, a total of 11.76 lakh cases of irregular travel were reported during April 2021 to December 2022. During this 8 cases of transfer of reserved tickets were detected and 12,085 fines were imposed.
Apart from this, 413 beggars and 534 unauthorized hawkers were also caught, out of which 175 were challaned and 60,515 recovered as penalty. 359 persons were prosecuted and a fine of Rs 1,33,670 was recovered.

It was told that during this period a fine of more than Rs 41 lakh was collected from passengers without masks. By December 2021, a fine of Rs 19.75 lakh has been imposed on Western Railway in more than 10 thousand cases without masks. A fine of Rs 21.34 lakh was collected in a joint investigation by RPF and BMC on Mumbai suburban section of Western Railway.
