India’s first sea-plane service is scheduled to start on 31 October from Sabarmati Riverfront to the Statue of Unity. It is being said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate this service. Union Minister Mansukh Mandavia says that the airline provider SpiceJet has bought a seaplane from Maldives for this. This seaplane will provide service on the route of about 250 km. From 3 November onwards, people will be able to travel on the sea plane. The seaplane can carry 12 passengers simultaneously. The minister says that once it is started, tourism will benefit greatly from this campaign. SpiceJet will also be given benefits under the government’s UDAN scheme.
A proposal for a seaplane service was approved in July

The Sabarmati and Sardar Sarovar-Statue of Unity routes are among the 16 seaplan routes identified in the country. According to the government, hydrographic surveys of this route were completed. According to Mandavia, after the launch of this service regular service has been planned on various routes including Guwahati, Andaman Nicobar and Yamuna to Tupper Dam in Uttarakhand.
