A 23-year-old Kerala trekker named R Babu, who was trapped in a steep gorge in the Malampuzha mountains in Palakkad, Kerala for two days without eating anything, has finally been rescued by the Indian Army in a mega operation. Teams of the Indian Army carried out the rescue operation on Monday. The youth was trapped between the rocks in the hills in such a way that the rescue workers were facing great difficulty in reaching him. Even that young man was facing problem in providing food or water.
At present, the young man has been saved by the Indian Army through an operation. Teams of the Indian Army had launched a special rescue operation for this. Army officials said they crawled for four hours to reach the trekker, after which he was given food and water.
An official said that the youth is still on the top of the mountain and is being given IV fluids. He will be airlifted to the hospital due to some knee injuries. The rescue operation, which can be said to be the biggest in recent times, also involved personnel from the Navy and the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), officials said.
Efforts were being made to rescue the trapped youth since Monday, but the rescue team was not able to reach this tracker even to deliver food and water. Efforts were also made to save this young man with the help of Coast Guard helicopter. Apart from this, several other efforts were also made and finally R Babu, who was trapped in the mountainous rocks, was rescued on Wednesday morning.

In one of the videos, R Babu, around 20 years old, was seen wearing a T-shirt and shorts. Sitting in a dangerous position, R Babu was somehow maintaining his balance in a small crack. Tracker Babu, trapped for 48 hours, has thanked the brave soldiers of the Indian Army who saved himself.
Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan had also intervened in the matter and sought the help of the army to save the youth. Following this, Lt Gen Arun of the Army’s Southern Command informed the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) a day ago that a special team would soon start from Bengaluru.
Locals said that the youth along with two others had decided to climb to the top of Cherad hill on Monday, but due to difficulties, two of them gave up their efforts to climb the peak. Despite this, the trekker babu kept climbing and reaching there, he slipped and fell and got stuck between the rocks of the hills.
