India said on Thursday that it has not given any land under the disengagement agreement with China. And it has also been emphasized to follow the Line of Actual Control (LAC), so that there is no unilateral change in the status quo. In the online briefing, External Affairs Ministry Spokesperson (MEA) Anurag Shrivastava said that there has been no change in India’s position on the LAC and the withdrawal process should not be misrepresented.
When asked on the recent agreement to retreat in the Pangong Lake area of Ladakh, he said that on the basis of the fact, the situation has been well informed by Defense Minister Rajnath Singh. And the defence ministry’s statement was aimed at keeping the matter straight, which was done in view of the wrong reactions in the media.
Last week, the armies of the two countries, which were fighting a confrontation in eastern Ladakh, completed the withdrawal of troops and weapons from the northern and southern sides of Pangong Tso. However, some cases still remain. During the talks, there were reports of emphasis on fast retreats in areas like Hot Springs, Gogra and Depsang in India, to reduce tension in the area.
Deadlock continued since may last year
The forces of China and India have been under tension since May last year. The two countries have held several rounds of military and diplomatic talks to resolve this deadlock.
On January 24, the ninth round of China-India Army Commander level meeting took place on the Chinese side of the Moldo-Chushul border meeting point.
Let me tell you that on June 15 last year, there was a violent clash between the army of India and China in the Galwan Valley of Ladakh. In this, 20 soldiers of India were martyred. Many were also injured. The attack was carried out by Chinese soldiers with stones, sticks and sharp weapons. The quarrel started from China, when it was being withdrawn after negotiations. The Indian Army officer arrived at PP-14 in Galvan Valley with the team from where the Chinese troops were to retreat.
During that time the number of Chinese soldiers was very less. But suddenly a large number of Chinese soldiers arrived there. The Indian officer and his 2 soldiers were attacked with stones and iron rods. After that, a large number of Indian soldiers also reached that point and violent clashes continued till midnight.
