Today there was a virtual dialogue between Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
India-Bangladesh Virtual Summit: Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina today jointly inaugurated the virtual Chilhati-Haldibari rail link. This rail link connecting Bangladesh and India was closed since 1965. During the talks, PM Modi said that Bangladesh is an important pillar under India’s ‘first neighbor’ policy and strengthening relations with Bangladesh has been in his priority since coming to power. In addition to the resumption of the Chilhati-Haldibari railway link between the two countries, there were deals for cooperation in other areas including hydrocorbons, agriculture and textiles.

On this occasion, the Prime Minister of Bangladesh said that his country will celebrate the 50th anniversary of independence next year, which is a symbol of victory for both India and Bangladesh. PM Modi will visit Bangladesh on March 26 next year. Sheikh Hasina paid tribute to about 30 lakh martyrs on this occasion. Apart from this, he also paid tribute to the Indian military soldiers who were martyred during the 1971 war. PM Sheikh Hasina expressed her gratitude for the cooperation of the Government of India and Indians in the freedom struggle of our country.
Memorial stamp on Bangabandhu issued
PM Modi and Hasina jointly released a commemorative stamp on Sheikh Mujibur Rahman during the talks held through video conferencing. Sheikh Mujirrahman was the biggest hero of Bangladesh’s independence. He ensured the independence of Bangladesh with the help of India. After independence, he became the first President of Bangladesh. The current Prime Minister of Bangladesh Sheikh Hasina is his daughter.
Digital exhibition on Mahatma Gandhi and Sheikh Mujibur Rahman
In addition to the commemorative stamp on Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the Prime Ministers of the two countries jointly inaugurated the Bangabandhu-Bapu Digital Exhibition. PM Modi said about the inauguration of the Digital Exhibition over Mahatma Gandhi and Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and said that he was proud to inaugurate it. He said that both great figures will continue to inspire the youth
