Bhandara, Water Awareness Week is being run by the government from 16 to 22 March. This week was started with water worship at Gosikhurd Prakalpa reservoir. The program was presided over by District Magistrate Sandeep Kadam. The chief guest was Ashish Deogade, Chief Engineer, Gosikhurd Project, Water Resources Department, Nagpur.

Addressing on the occasion, Ashish Devgade said that the Gosikhurd reservoir is adjacent to the city of Bhandara. He mentioned the need to take mandatory steps by the Municipal Council Bhandara to prevent water pollution in the river from Bhandara city. For this, he talked about running a water awareness campaign.
Only Nag river is not responsible
Pollution is not happening in Gosikhurd reservoir only because of Nag river. Rather, other elements are also responsible for this. Efforts are being made by the government to control the pollution of Nag river. For this, Environment Minister Aaditya Thackeray has directed a meeting of senior officials to prepare a plan to make Gosikhurd reservoir pollution-free. Efforts are being made at every level to keep Gosikhurd reservoir clean by stopping water pollution.
Protect water quality: District Magistrate
District Magistrate Sandeep Kadam, in his presidential address, said that despite the abundance of water on the earth due to pollution of water resources, very little water is available for actual use.
Therefore, it is as important to use water sparingly as it is to maintain its quality by not polluting it. He wished that maximum water awareness campaign could be run with the participation of Water Resources Department and other departments directly related to water.
Superintending Engineer Tale explained the purpose of Water Awareness Week. These mainly include promoting public participation in irrigation through water use organization, increasing irrigation in less water, raising ground water level through water conservation, raising awareness on cropping practices through agriculture department, prevention of water pollution and electricity bill. For irrigation water filling and maintenance of machinery, he mentioned to make farmers aware. The program was done by Provisional Executive Engineer Farkade.

A motorcycle rally was organized at the end of the program. District Magistrate Sandeep Kadam and Chief Engineer Deogade started the rally with the green signal.
