Panaji: Union Home Minister Amit Shah will be on a one-day visit to Goa on Sunday during which he will address public meetings inside auditoriums in three assembly constituencies of the state. Assembly elections will be held in Goa on February 14. At present, the government of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is in the state. BJP’s Goa unit president Sadanand Shet Tanawade said on Saturday that during his visit, Shah will address one public meeting each in Ponda, Sanvordem and Vasco assembly constituencies.
The Union Minister will address a public meeting in Ponda at 4.30 pm, followed by Sanvoordem at 6.30 pm and again in Vasco at 8 pm. Tanawade said, “During all the three public meetings, people will attend the auditorium as per 50 percent seating capacity and all the rules related to COVID-19 will be followed.”

He said that the last rally held in Vasco would be telecast live in 10 assembly constituencies simultaneously. The BJP has fielded its candidates in all the 40 assembly constituencies in Goa. The Election Commission has extended the ban on rallies and road shows till January 31 in the five states that are going to polls, but allowed public gatherings with a maximum of 500 people in the first two phases of polling. and has also relaxed the rules for door-to-door campaigning. It allowed political parties to hold ‘indoor’ meetings with a maximum attendance of 300 people or 50 per cent of the hall’s capacity. (agency)
