Mumbai: Around 65 people have died in just 9 months this year in the attacks of wild animals from Maharashtra. These shocking figures of those who died in the attack of wild animals have come to the fore during the winter session of the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly. During the winter session of Maharashtra, the state’s CM Uddhav Thackeray has said in a written reply that between January 1 and September 30, 65 people have died in wild animal attacks.
According to ANI, in a written reply to the assembly, CM Uddhav Thackeray told about the people killed in the attack of wild animals that between January 1, 2021 and September 30, 2021, 65 people have died in the attack of wild animals in Maharashtra. Financial assistance of 15 lakhs is being given by the government to the family members of the deceased person in the attacks.
According to a report, there are frequent cases of conflict between humans and animals in many parts of the country. Talking about Maharashtra, there are frequent incidents of leopard entering residential areas in many parts of Maharashtra including Mumbai.

In Maharashtra, a total of 23 tiger deaths have been recorded in 6 months (January’21-July’21) in cases of death due to electric shock, poaching and poisoning. The state government has taken necessary action as per NCTA norms.

Apart from this, the incidents of tiger attacks on humans in Maharashtra have also come to the fore this year. A fresh case was also reported in November. When a woman forest guard was killed by a tigress in the Tadoba Andhari Tiger Reserve (TATR) in Chandrapur district of Maharashtra. According to a report, she was conducting a survey along with three other personnel to determine the number of tigers there. The deceased forest guard Swati Dumane was posted in the Kolara forest range in the main area of TATR.

In a report, TATR Chief Conservator of Forests (CCF) Dr Jitendra Ramgaonkar was quoted as saying that Dumane along with three assistants had started the survey under All India Tiger Estimation (AITE)-2022. After walking about four kilometers from Kolara Gate to compartment number 97 under the core area of TATR, the team saw a tigress sitting ahead on the road, which was about 200 meters away from them. The team waited for about half an hour and tried to make a detour through a dense stretch of forest. Realizing the move, the tigress chased them and attacked Dumane.
