Amravati. The temperature of the sun is increasing in the second week of February. In the next few days, the effect of rising heat will be seen in the form of water crisis in far flung villages. But the administration has not started any remedial plan so far regarding the possible water crisis in the division in the summer. Even the draft of water crisis has not been prepared.
Implementation starts only after the approval of this draft by the Divisional Commissionerate. Generally, by the last week of January every year, in all the five districts of the division, the blueprint of the measures plans to deal with the possible water crisis was prepared. But this year unforgivable neglect is being done, which can be a serious problem for the citizens living in inaccessible areas and water-stressed areas. Although various works are being done under Jaljeevan Mission in many tehsils, but till the scorching heat, this work is less likely to be tackled.
Don’t even pretend Corona
For the prevention of water crisis, information from the village panchayat level is collected through the Tehsil office with the Zilla Parishad administration. After which the district wise format is prepared in the office of the Divisional Commissioner. Last year, the administration had cited Gram Panchayat elections and the corona epidemic as the reason for the delay, but this year the administration has no excuse like this.
Report of only one district
In the beginning of February, the report of only one district has been received for water crisis measures. But the reports of other districts are awaited. Even the report of the Divisional Headquarters Amravati is also pending. Last year, measures were taken to deal with water shortage in 1615 villages of five districts of the division.
In which a provision of 58.66 crores was made for water supply by tanker or bullock cart, well deepening, removal of sludge, acquisition of private wells, water supply from tanker-bull cart, special tap repair scheme, well repair scheme, temporary supplementary tap scheme etc.
