New Delhi: A day after Swami Prasad Maurya’s resignation from the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government in Uttar Pradesh, the saffron party on Wednesday joined hands with the Samajwadi Party (Samajwadi Party). Hari Om Yadav, a three-time MLA and a strong leader of Firozabad district, was included in the party. Hari Om Yadav is considered very close to the founder of SP and former Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav.
He is currently the MLA of Sirsaganj. He was expelled from the SP for six years in February last year for anti-party activities. Hari Om Yadav joined BJP in the presence of both the Deputy Chief Ministers of Uttar Pradesh Keshav Prasad Maurya and Dinesh Sharma as well as state unit president Swatantra Dev Singh at the BJP headquarters in the capital. On this occasion, sitting MLA of Congress from Behat assembly in Saharanpur district Naresh Saini also joined BJP.

After the announcement of former Saharanpur MP Imran Masood joining the SP, there was talk that Naresh Saini can follow his path. However, he had then called it a rumour, saying that he would neither join the SP nor the BJP. Apart from Hari Om Yadav and Naresh Saini, former SP MLA Dharampal Yadav from Etmadpur assembly seat of Agra district also joined BJP.
Welcoming the three leaders to the BJP, State President Singh said that these leaders have joined the party after being impressed by the work being done by the BJP for the poor and deprived sections of the society. He said that his arrival will increase the stature of the party.
