Anjali Ryot, 29, a resident of Himachal Pradesh, has died in a gunfight between the drug mafia on the Caribbean coast of Mexico. She went to Mexico to celebrate her birthday. She currently resides in California, USA. The family of Anjali, who lost her life in a shootout between a drug gang, broke down when they got the news. Anjali had gone to Mexico to celebrate her birthday. She was a software engineer as well as a travel blogger by profession.
Anjali’s father K D Riot told PTI that it is difficult for her to believe that she is no longer in this world. He recalled that Anjali had spent three-four months with him in Solan last year after the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic. Riot said Anjali and her husband Utkarsh Srivastava had gone to Mexico from their current home in San Jose city of California on October 22 to celebrate Anjali’s 30th birthday.

He said that Utkarsh told Ashish, Anjali’s younger brother, who lives in Chicago, that he was shot dead soon after he had taken ice cream from a shop after having dinner at the Tulum Caribbean Resort. Ashish called his father on October 21 and told about this. A German woman was also killed in the shootout.
Former director of Himachal Pradesh Animal Husbandry Department K D Riot and his wife Nirmala Rayot recalled that she stayed with him in Solan for three-four months after the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic last year. He said that Anjali had come to Mumbai from California to pursue a diploma related to the film industry. She had come to meet him immediately after finishing the course as the lockdown was in force at that time due to the outbreak of Corona virus.
After completing her BTech, Anjali moved to California in 2012 to pursue her Masters in Electronics from San Jose State University. It is written on his Facebook account that he has studied from St. Luke’s in Solan and Sacred Heart High School in Dharamsala. The father told that Anjali was working as a senior software engineer in LinkedIn since July this year. Earlier, from 2014 to 2019, she worked as a software engineer at Yahoo.
Anjali’s father said that she loved to travel. She was also a travel blogger. Efforts are on to bring the body to Solan for last rites, he said.
Anjali’s husband Utkarsh, who hails from Jabalpur in Madhya Pradesh, currently works as a senior manager at Netflix.
