Ranchi : Hemant Soren’s government has snatched the livelihood of the people who are making their living by setting up temporary shops and handcarts around the historic Morhabadi ground of Jharkhand. It is also the responsibility of the state government to give them a suitable place. Ranchi Municipal Corporation is one and only medium towards providing space to the concerned shopkeepers. That is why some people are trying to defame Ranchi Municipal Corporation for snatching the livelihood of these shopkeepers, which is wrong.
Mayor Dr. Asha Lakra said these things on Sunday. He said that the place where criminals carried out the firing incident in Morhabadi a few days back, is the residence of the Chief Minister’s father Shibu Soren. Therefore, to hide its mistake, the state government issued a decree to remove the handcart and temporary shops from there. If the state government wanted, it could have secured the high security zone by installing CCTV cameras at the respective site and regular arrangements for police patrolling. By removing innocent shopkeepers from the concerned place, the state government has taken away their livelihood.

The mayor said that everyone has the right to live in a democracy. Therefore, there is a need to settle them at the appropriate place after talking to the concerned shopkeepers. It is not possible to solve this problem by shifting them to the place where there will be no sale of the goods of the shopkeepers. He urged the state government to allow these shopkeepers to set up handcarts, stalls and temporary shops as before. Arrangements should be made by the police-administration to secure the high security zone.
