Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh Police has suspended a police constable for having long hair and long mustache. Madhya Pradesh Assistant Inspector General of Police Prashant Sharma issued orders in this regard on Friday, which went viral on social media on Sunday. Sharma is the Assistant Inspector General of Police, Madhya Pradesh Cooperative Fraud and Public Service Guarantee and is posted at the Police Headquarters here. Sharma has also confirmed this suspension in a conversation with ‘PTI-Bhasha’ on Sunday.
He said that the suspended constable Rakesh Rana is posted in the Motor Transport Pool (MT Pool) of the police in Bhopal and was working as the driver of the Special Director General of Police, Cooperative Fraud and Public Service Guarantee. Sharma said, “His appearance looks very bad. He was instructed to cut his hair and mustache properly in order to fix his appearance. But, he did not comply with this order and persisted in keeping the hair and mustache intact.

He said that this uniform comes under the category of indiscipline under the rules and this act has an adverse effect on other employees. “Therefore, Rana has been suspended with immediate effect on January 7,” Sharma said.
