Things like dust, stones and meteorite keep falling from the outer space on Earth. But as soon as they enter the earth’s atmosphere, they are destroyed and fall on the earth in the form of dust. At the same time, now a study has been done about this dust falling on the earth, in which a shocking claim has been made. It has been said in the study that 5,200 tons (4,700 metric tons) of space dust reaches the surface of the Earth every year.
The results of this study show that the dust of the Universe is the main source of material from the outside world on Earth, which reaches the Earth through things like meteorites. It has been told that every year about 10 tons of dust and things from the outside world come to the surface of the Earth through meteorites. Through this information, scientists can help to understand how in the history of the formation of young earth, it can be found in water and carbon molecules through the dust of the outside world.
Scientists doing research in Antarctica
Finding the dust particles of space is not an easy task at all. First you have to find micro meteorites, which are equal to tenth and hundredth part of millimeter size. Scientists are doing research for this by going to Antarctica. For the past 20 years, the French National Center for Scientific Research (CNRS) physicist Jean Duprat has led six research expeditions at the Franco-Italian Concordia Station (Dome C). Dome C is a place located 1100 kilometers off the Adelaide land coast of Antarctica.
Micro meteorite deposited for two decades, then scientists came to the conclusion
According to the CNRS statement, space dust is much easier to find in the Dome C area due to the low snowfall rate and ancient snowfall conditions. The team collected samples of pure ice from trenches more than 6.5 feet (2 m) deep above the research station. It was also taken care of that it has not come in contact with human beings. For the last two decades, scientists have collected so many micro meteorites, that it can be known that how much dust falls on the Earth from outer space every year.
Jupiter’s comet causes more dust on the earth
Scientists estimated that a total of 15,000 tons (13,600 metric tons) of space dust fall on Earth every year. However, most of the time it enters the atmosphere of the Earth, it burns and gets lost along the way. In this way, 5,200 tons (4,700 metric tons) of space dust falls on the surface of our planet every year. Most (about 80 percent) of the space dust comes to Earth due to the comet of the planet Jupiter.
