PimpriThe holy dam, which supplies water to Pimpri-Chinchwad city, was 100 percent filled in last year’s monsoon. Despite this, water supply has been affected in most parts of the city. Especially in slums and chawl areas, low pressure and irregular water supply is done. In protest against this, a front was taken out on behalf of the Mahila Congress at the Municipal Headquarters.
In the next fortnight, full pressure and regular water supply should be done in the entire city, otherwise thousands of women will surround the Municipal Corporation building. This warning was given by Mahila Congress.

Police stopped near Municipal Corporation building
Under the leadership of Mahila Congress President Sayli Nadhe, hundreds of women staged a sit-in at the Municipal Corporation building. Earlier, after laying wreaths at the memorials of Mahatma Jyotirao Phule and Bharat Ratna Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar at Pimpri Chowk, this front reached Morwadi Chowk. After garlanding the memorial of Ahilyabai Holkar there, the police stopped the march in front of the entrance of the Municipal Corporation building. There the front turned into a meeting. Addressing the rally, Congress city president Dr. Kailash Kadam said that when I was the leader of the opposition, I had demanded from the administration that the Municipal Corporation should not take water for the citizens from MIDC at commercial rates.
BJP had promised 24-hour water supply
Dr. Kailash Kadam said that BJP had promised round the clock water supply in the last general elections five years ago. He had also assured to start water supply scheme from Bhama-Askhed, Andhra dam. In the last five years, BJP has done nothing in this manifesto to please all the common citizens. In contrast, in most parts of the city, insufficient water is supplied to slums at night despite adequate water supply till next July. Even when there is no water, the water meter starts running. BJP corporators, officials and administration are deliberately politicizing water supply. That’s why women are facing problems.
