Nagpur, On the basis of confidential information received by DCP Gajanan Rajmane of Circle 3, Panchpavli police raided the house of a gutkha and tobacco seller. On his behest, on Monday night, the police raided the godown in Mouda and seized gutkha and tobacco worth Rs 1 crore.
Police have registered a case against Riyazuddin Ansari (45), Sunil Juneja, resident of Shastrinagar and Himanshu Bhadra (40), resident of Mahal. Last Saturday, Rajmane had received information that Riyaz, a resident of Panchpavli police station area, is selling tobacco and gutkha on a large scale. He ordered Panchapawali police to take action.
Goods worth lakhs of rupees were recovered at Riyaz’s house. On interrogation by taking him into custody, it came to know that Sunil buys goods from Juneja. Sunil and Himanshu Bhadra’s warehouse is in Mauda police station area. According to information received from Riyaz, Panchpavli police along with Mouda police and FDA officials raided the warehouse located in Savli Phata complex. The police saw a truck in front of the warehouse. On checking the truck, sacks of flavored tobacco were laden.
After this the lock of the warehouse was broken. Gutka and tobacco were kept in huge quantity inside too. Whose value has been found to be more than Rs 1 crore. It is said that Sunil Juneja is also involved in the business of cricket betting. Together with Himanshu Bhadra, he does tobacco business. Tobacco and gutkha are smuggled on a large scale from Madhya Pradesh and other states.
Juneja and Bhadra have gone underground after getting information about the police raid. Police is on the lookout for them. The police is also going to tighten the noose on the traders of other states who sell goods by smuggling in the city. Due to the strictness of the police in the city, Juneja had built a warehouse in Mauda. DCP Rajmane himself went to the warehouse and investigated.
