Lucknow : Along with the resolve and spirit of Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas in the state, the state government is also continuously taking steps towards religious harmony. Under this, Sahibzada Day will be celebrated at the Chief Minister’s residence here on Monday and Gurbani will resonate at the CM residence. Uttar Pradesh is the first state to celebrate Sahibzada Day. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had decided to celebrate Sahibzada Day. On Monday, other ministers of the government including the Chief Minister will participate in the Gurbani Kirtan to be held at the Chief Minister’s residence.
It is a clear message of the cultural renaissance of power that festivals and days of faith of the minority Sikh community are being organized at the Chief Minister’s residence. This day is celebrated in memory of the martyrdom of four sons of Guru Gobind Singh, Ajit Singh, Jujhar Singh, Zorawar Singh and Fateh Singh. Like Sahibzada Diwas, earlier Guruvani Kirtan and Langar were organized at the Chief Minister’s residence on the 550th Prakashotsav of Guru Nanak Dev. Then 200 to 250 people of the Sikh community had taken langar and prasad. On the initiative of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, last year also Sahibzada Day was organized at the Chief Minister’s residence. During the earlier governments, such events were not held at the Chief Minister’s residence, then there was only an Iftar party.

That’s why we celebrate Sahibzada Day
On 26 December 1704, two Sahibzade of Guru Gobind Singh, Zorawar Singh and Fateh Singh, were elected alive in the wall by the Nawab of Sirhind for not converting to Islam. The martyrdom of Sahibzadas was done to save the religion. In Fatehgarh Sahib, the Sahibzadas of Guru Gobind Singh were elected in the wall only because they did not leave their religion and converted to Islam. There was that holy land on Sirhind, where every particle used to make a sound that “You can behead but you cannot bow your head”. This day is celebrated in memory of the martyrdom of four sons of Guru Gobind Singh, Ajit Singh, Jujhar Singh, Zorawar Singh and Fateh Singh.
