The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) on Tuesday issued guidelines for flying after the COVID-19 vaccination. It says that aircrew will be unfit to fly for 48 hours after vaccination. According to the guidelines, the aircrew will be kept under observation for 30 minutes to observe any reaction after vaccination.
It states that if no symptoms are seen after 48 hours, the aircrew will be considered fit for unrestricted air duty. If the pilot experiences any symptoms after 48 hours, he / she will be reviewed by the treating physician / company doctor / his / her AMA. Such pilots will be declared fit for the flight if they do not show any symptoms without any medicines and for that they will need to obtain a medical certificate.
According to these guidelines, if COVID-19 vaccination lasts for more than 14 days, then a special medical examination will be required for the flight.
