Mumbai: The financial capital of the country, Mumbai (Mumbai) is going to get the gift of the second metro. The much awaited Metro 2A and 7 has got the green signal of CMRS. DN of western suburb Andheri This metro corridor connecting Dahisar West to Dahisar West and Andheri East to Dahisar East can be started from Gudi Padwa. It is noteworthy that Mumbaikars will get the second metro after almost 9 years. The first metro was run from Versova to Ghatkopar in 2013.
The Dahisar-DN Nagar Metro-2A line and Dahisar East-Andheri East Metro-7 have got the Safety Commissioner’s Clearance Certificate. According to MMRDA commissioner SVR Srinivas, now the way has been paved for starting the metro on this corridor. CMRS started testing work on both these lines from last 20 February and has now given green signal for commercial operation.

It has been told that the minimum fare of the metro will be Rs 10 and the maximum fare will be Rs 80. Rs 10 for first 3 kms, Rs 20 for 3 to 12 kms, Rs 30 for 12 to 18 kms, Rs 40 for 18 to 24 kms, 50 for 24 to 30 kms, 60 for 30 to 36 kms Rs, 70 for 36 to 42 km and Rs 80 for above 42 km will have to be paid.

CMRS did the testing twice and instructed MMRDA to make necessary corrections. When the entire 35 km corridor will be started, the journey from Dahisar East to Ghatkopar can be done. In the first phase, there will be 18 stations in 2A and 7 metro lines. Both the lines will be connected to each other.
Metro 7 Stations (Phase 1)
- Aarey, Dindoshi, Kurar, Akurli, Poisar, Magathane, Devipara, National Park, Ovaripada
Metro 2A Stations (Phase 1)
- Dahisar E, Upper Dahisar, Kandarpada, Mandapeshwar, Axar, Borivali (West), Pahari Axar, Kandivali (West) and Dahanukarwadi.
Phase II by October 2022
According to MMRDA commissioner SVR Srinivas, once the first phase starts in April, the second phase or the entire corridor between Dahisar to Andheri is expected to start by October 2022. About 10 lakh people will be able to travel daily on both the metro corridors. This will relieve the heavy traffic jam in the western suburb. Later this metro line will connect with Ghatkopar-Andheri-Versova line.
