Mumbai. A Director of M/s Pratibha CSL Sudhir Construction was arrested by the CGST Department of Mumbai Zone on Friday for evading GST of Rs 9 crore. The accused was then produced before the Vashi magistrate, where the magistrate sent him to 14 days judicial custody. Let us tell you that if anyone is found guilty in this case, he can be punished with imprisonment of up to five years.
Got the contract in 2016
It is worth noting that in 2016 the Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation had awarded the contract to this company to build a metro train depot in Nagpur. At that time the company had not paid GST of Rs 8.05 crore. Therefore, this amount was recovered in 2018, two years after the award of the contract. On the other hand, Input Tax Credit (ITC) of Rs 95 lakh was availed by submitting forged documents.
