The court sentenced Peershah Salim Shah, a resident of Saunsar, district Chhindwara (MP), guilty of smuggling ganja, and sentenced him to rigorous imprisonment for 4 years. Also imposed a fine of Rs 50,000. In default of payment of fine, he will have to undergo an additional jail term of 6 months.

According to the information, on 6 October 2016, platform no. On 1st near Mahananda Milk Stall, ASI Prabhakar Wadekar saw Peershaha in suspicious condition. He had 2 bags. On checking the bag, 10.944 kg of ganja was found in them. Shah was arrested and ganja worth Rs 1,10,440 was confiscated. During interrogation, he told that he is originally a resident of Saunsar but lives in Kavrapeth campus in the city. He himself smuggles ganja for his own benefit. On being caught red handed, the GRP started strict legal proceedings against him.
ASI Wadekar along with API Madane conducted the investigation and filed a charge sheet in the court on 3 January 2017. Based on the strong arguments of public prosecutor Dipali Gunganekar and the evidence presented by the GRP, the court found the charges leveled against Peershah to be true and convicted. On behalf of GRP, under the guidance of SP M. Rajkumar and PI Manisha Kashid, API Madane, ASI Wadekar, Rajendra Baghel, Todase, Gawande, Kanojia, Sanjay Kangale, Gaidhane completed the proceedings.
