- 17 crore sterilization proposal
- 10 crore has been allocated
Nagpur. Not only the public is getting worried about the ever-increasing number of stray dogs in the city and the attacks on people especially during the night, but every councilor of the Municipality is also seen worried about it. This can be gauged from the fact that most of the councilors united together to crack down on stray dogs. Animal loving organizations express their anger on the administration due to the excesses with the dogs. In such a situation, the councilors are being advocated to give the responsibility of stray dogs to these institutions as adoption.
Mayor Dayashankar Tiwari instructed the commissioner to pay attention to this problem himself. Councilor Parineeta Phuke said that the problem of stray animals in the city is increasing day by day. Recently, an 8-year-old girl was attacked by stray dogs in the Abhyankar Nagar premises. In which the girl was seriously injured. Who will be responsible for this? He also demanded an explanation for this.
20,000 for elephant and 500 for cattle
During the discussion, strange information was revealed. It was told in the house that if any animal is seen wandering on the streets, then the Municipality has fixed different fines for its capture. It seems impossible to find a stray elephant roaming the streets of the city. But when this happens, 20 thousand rupees will be imposed on the owner. There is a rule for imposing a fine. It is common to see cattle on city streets. 500 for which only Rs. penalty is fixed. Councilors believed that if 20 thousand is made for cattle, then once caught, the cattle of that owner will not be seen stray on the roads for the second time. But there are no strict rules. In this context, the administration believed that the fine on cattle could not be increased. As per rules only Rs. can only be extended. Despite this, the Municipal Corporation paid Rs. is kept.
Pig breeding business increased
The councilors believed that apart from stray dogs and cattle, the problem of pigs roaming the street is also increasing. Some time ago, the Municipal Corporation did a commendable job by calling a team from South India.
In which the pig-catching campaign was launched. In those days the problem of pig had reduced. But now it has increased again. Alam is that now some parents are doing the business of breeding pigs in the city itself.
These pigs are released anywhere. When someone goes out for a walk in the morning, they see little pigs from the line. Such a sight is happening in Nagpur Smart City.
The administration believed that a proposal for sterilization of dogs was made under the chairmanship of the District Magistrate. This was the proposal of the entire district of 17 crores. Mayor Dayashankar Tiwari said that 10 crore is being allocated by the government for sterilization.
Issue related to cow and meat
Opposing the objection raised by some councilors regarding cattle, councilor Harish Gwalbanshi said that cattle have the place of mother cow. They also have the right to live here. Therefore, the action against him is not justified. The administration had prepared Nandi Gram Yojana to deal with this problem of cattle. If the administration provides land, then the tribes can be shifted there, but the land itself has not been made available. Some councilors believed that stray dogs are becoming dangerous due to open meat shops within the city. This problem can be dealt with if the shop is closed.
