A special cell has been set up in Mumbai’s Arthur Road Jail for fugitive diamond trader Nirav Modi in the PNB scam case. The jail officer has given this information on Friday. The UK court has approved the extradition of fugitive Nirav to India. Nirav is wanted in India under the sections of fraud and money laundering in PNB scam. The jail officer said that once Nirav Modi comes to Mumbai, he will be kept in one of the three cells of Barrack No-12. There are strict security arrangements in this barrack. Preparations to keep Nirav Modi in jail have been completed and whenever he is extradited, the jail cell is ready for him.
India’s big win in the extradition case
The Indian Authority has won a big victory in Nirav Modi’s extradition case. In fact, the British court on Thursday ordered the extradition of Nirav Modi. The UK extradition judge ruled that the fugitive diamond trader had to answer a case in India. There is no evidence that there will not be a fair trial. Ultimately, Nirav Modi lost a legal battle over extradition for nearly two years. The British court said that Nirav Modi will get adequate medical treatment and mental health care at Arthur Road Jail in Mumbai.
Given the seriousness of the charges, the bail of 49-year-old Nirav Modi continued to be canceled. Modi was arrested in London in March 2019, since that time he is in a London jail.

How is Nirav Modi’s closet?
In 2019, the Jail Department of Maharashtra shared information about the jail and facilities available to keep Nirav Modi with the Center. The Maharashtra government had submitted a letter of assurance to the Center regarding the facilities available inside the jail. The jail department had assured that Nirav Modi would be kept in a cell, where the number of detainees would be less. If brought into the barrack, Modi will get three square meters of personal space. Where a cotton mat, pillow, bedsheet and blanket will be given. The jail administration has also assured to provide adequate light, air and personal belongings in the cell.
What is the whole matter of?
Nirav Modi had committed a bank fraud of over $ 2 billion in PNB’s Mumbai branch, which surfaced in early 2018. Nirav Modi is absconding from India since January 2018 and is currently in UK jail. The CBI and Enforcement Directorate in India are investigating him and are trying to extradite him. After a long hearing, a UK court has approved to hand over Nirav Modi to India.
