UP Assembly Elections
- The road to Delhi passes through Lucknow and in this episode more efforts are being made regarding Uttar Pradesh. In the last elections, the BJP got a landslide majority and got about three-fourth of the seats, but this time the contest is looking multi-cornered. Although the main contest is believed to be between BJP and SP, but BSP and Congress are also trying to prove their presence again, while the Aam Aadmi Party is also trying to spread itself.
- The election season of Uttar Pradesh will be affected by the construction of Ram temple in Ayodhya, the farmers’ movement, the chaos caused by the corona epidemic, as well as factors like PM Modi and Hindutva.
- Elections are being held in the state in seven phases and the first phase is starting from western Uttar Pradesh, the stronghold of the farmers’ movement. The elections will end from Purvanchal.
- Elections were held for the current assembly about five years ago in 2017 in which BJP proved to be the king. Punjab Assembly Elections
- In the assembly elections held in Punjab about five years ago, under the leadership of Captain Amarinder Singh, the Congress formed the government with a thumping majority. However, now with the Captain leaving the Congress and joining hands with the BJP and the farmers’ agitation, all the equations have changed and the picture is confused. The ruling party Congress is in the fray with a new face and on the strength of the current Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi, its eyes are on about 32 percent Dalit voters of the state.
- In the last elections, the Aam Aadmi Party emerged as the main opposition party, but it faces the problem of a strong face, while the Akali Dal faces the challenge of angry farmers. At the time of the farmers’ agitation, the Akali Dal had decided to part ways with the NDA, but how far the displeasure of the farmers went, it will be proved by the election results. There is a significant number of Dalits in the state and to get their votes, the Akali Dal has tied up with the BSP.
- Another front has emerged in the state whose strength is PM Modi and Captain Amarinder Singh. The BJP is confident that after the return of agricultural laws, it can strengthen its position by partnering with Captain and Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa.
- During the recent visit of PM Modi to Punjab, a breach in the security system can also affect the electoral math. About 39 per cent of the voters in the state are Hindus and the BJP can be primarily eyeing these voters.
- In the 2017 assembly elections, the Congress won a big victory under the leadership of Captain Amarinder Singh. In the elections held on 117 assembly seats, Congress had won 77 seats and Captain became the Chief Minister. However, before the completion of the term, he left his post due to differences with the party and in September 2021 last year, Charanjit Singh Channi took over the state.

- This state was formed about 22 years ago and since then it has changed power every five years and accordingly the chances of Congress forming the government are high but it will not want to live in this illusion after the Kerala results. In Kerala too, there has been a tradition of change of power in five years, but in the recently held Kerala elections, the Congress alliance was out of power for the second time in a row.
- Congress and BJP, both the parties of the state, are facing the most problems due to discord within the party.
- BJP and Congress have been the only significant presence in the state so far, but this time the Aam Aadmi Party can also make the contest interesting with strong preparations.

Goa Assembly Elections
- The contest in Goa is more complicated due to the presence of multiple parties. In the last election, the Congress was less than the BJP in the majority, but through the Ganabandhan, the BJP was successful in forming the government for the third time in a row.
- The main contest in Goa has been between the BJP and the Congress, but two important regional parties, the Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party and the Goa Forward Party Bloc, have been harming them. This time the competition has become more complicated due to the increase in the number of parties. This time two other parties including TMC (Trinamool Congress) have also entered the election season of the state. At the same time, NCP, AAP (Aam Aadmi Party) and Shiv Sena are also active in the state.
- In the last assembly elections, no single party got the required number of seats to form the government. In the elections held on 40 seats, the Congress had got more seats than the BJP but could not form the government. Manohar Parrikar somehow managed to form the BJP government through the coalition. At present, the government of Pramod Sawant is in Goa. - The election of Manipur is important because the results of Assam and Manipur in the northeastern states also affect the remaining five states.
- There was a rebellion against the Chief Minister of the state last year but the government was successful in handling it. However, how much the situation is under control, it will be known from the election results.
- The Congress emerged as the single largest party in the 2017 assembly elections in Manipur, but the BJP, along with the National People’s Party, the Naga People’s Front and the Lok Janshakti Party, managed to form the government in Manipur for the first time under the leadership of N.
