Three years ago, the appeal was made in the NGT by Rajkumar Kukreja and Rajesh Changlani, social workers of Ulhasnagar. The Ulhasnagar Municipal Corporation was asked by the NGT to consider the exercise of removing the dumping ground in two months by sending a notice. The order of the National Green Tribunal (NGT) is yet to be implemented. According to the information, till now tenders worth Rs 4.5 crore have been passed on this illegal dumping ground, but even after doing so, the problem remains the same. It was also said that a solid waste processing project would be done in Usatane village of Ambernath tehsil, but it has been 1 year since then.
On the other hand, petitioner Rajkumar Kukreja of National Green Tribunal NGT says that there is still time to shift the said dumping ground to Usatane village as no work has started on the proposed land directly. The Municipal Corporation is playing with the health of the people. I am fighting a legal battle for the interest of citizens, till the problem is not resolved, I will continue to take up the matter.
