An argument reportedly broke out between Nilesh Rane and the police near the court. Following this, an FIR was registered against the former MP and some others at Oros police station on Tuesday evening under sections 186, 188, 269, 270 of the Indian Penal Code and the Disaster Management Act, the official said. The court had said that the petition was “prematurely filed and not maintainable”. Earlier, the Bombay High Court on January 17 had refused anticipatory bail to Nitesh Rane in the case. His petition claimed that he was being framed and that the case against him and his father was “motivated by political vendetta or rivalry at the behest of the ruling system”. The case against Nitesh Rane pertains to the alleged attack on local Shiv Sena worker Santosh Parab during the campaigning for bank elections.
